tom boellstorff is an associate professor in the department
of anthropology at the University of California, Irvine, and editor-
in-chief of American Anthropologist. He is the author of The Gay
Archipelago (2005); A Coincidence of Desires (Duke, 2007); and
Coming of Age in Second Life (2008).
lawrence cohen is an associate professor of anthropology
and South and Southeast Asian studies at the University of Califor-
nia, Berkeley. He is the author of No Aging in India: Alzheimer’s, the
Bad Family, and Other Modern Things (1998) and the coeditor of
Thinking about Dementia (2006).
don kulick is a professor of anthropology in the department of
comparative human development at the University of Chicago. His
books include Travesti: Language and Sexuality (1998) (coauthored
with Deborah Cameron); and Fat (2005) (coedited with Anne
Meneley).
suzanne lafont is a professor of anthropology at Kings-
borough Community College. She is the author of Constructing
Sexualities: Readings in Sexuality, Gender and Culture (2003) and
coeditor of Unravelling Taboos: Gender and Sexuality in Namibia
(2007).
