FOREWORD
Th is is a foreword, not a preface. All that I have to say— for the present— is
in the book.
I would like to thank all those who have helped me. It would be
unwise, however, to mention their names.
I would welcome corrections of mistakes of fact, also any infor-
mation, old or new, books, newspapers, pamphlets, offi cial documents
(particularly the Report of the Committee on Wages 1919), in fact anything
which would be useful in the eff ort to rid ourselves of the weight we have
carried so long that some of us scarcely realise that we are carry ing it.
