Note on Japanese Names and Terms
Japanese names are written following the Japanese practice: surname
first, given name second. The only exceptions to this rule are the names of
Japanese authors who have published in English using Western name
order or who, for any reason, have chosen to reverse their name order
when publishing in Japanese.
Japanese terms are transcribed with diacritics, except in those cases
where a place-name (for example, Tokyo or Kyoto) is well-known in English.
